FAQ
Why does this exist?
LaTeX is often more convenient than Microsoft Word or Google Docs for long documents and documents that include vector graphics. But in many fields, Word and Google Docs are still the standard for co-author collaboration. This workflow lets you draft in LaTeX first and then share a .docx file with co-authors to collect feedback. Many journals also require .doc format at submission, including EHJ and JAMA Cardiology.
What ZIP should I upload?
Upload the same ZIP you would use for your normal PDF build: include main.tex at the ZIP root, plus all
referenced bibliography and figure files. See the examples page for a concrete layout.
What about references and BibTeX?
We support BibTeX/BibLaTeX citations, abbreviation expansion, and a broad range of figure/table cross-reference commands. Coverage is broad but not perfect yet; current edge cases are listed on the limitations page. If you are unhappy with your conversion, please reach out to us and we will try to make changes so it works for your project.
Is there a file size limit?
Yes. Uploads are limited to 100 MB to keep processing reliable.
How are my files handled?
The service runs on a DigitalOcean VM. Your ZIP is uploaded for processing, stored only in temporary working directories during conversion, and all temporary files are deleted immediately after conversion completes and response delivery finishes.
How can I report issues or suggestions?
Suggestions, bug reports, and feature requests are welcome by email. If a conversion fails, we are happy to investigate. Please attach the project ZIP you tried to convert when possible.
How can I support this project?
You can support the project via Buy me a coffee. Running the VM has ongoing costs, so any help is genuinely appreciated.
